Helena Crocker Residences: Groundbreaking

WESTFORD— On Thursday, September 29th, New England Construction Management Firm, Dellbrook|JKS broke ground on a new 18-unit senior affordable housing development, alongside CHOICE, Inc., SCG Development, and ICON Architecture.

The Helena Crocker Residences, located at 60 Littleton Road, includes the new construction of a 13,380 SF, three-story structure named after Helena “Mickey” Crocker. Mickey herself, a 94-year-old Westford-born activist, attended the autumn groundbreaking ceremony as the guest of honor.

This contemporary complex will hold eight studio apartments and 10 one-bedroom units, each accessible to visiting guests and restricted to tenants making 60% or less of the area’s median income (AMI), of which a percentage is also restricted to tenants making 30% or less of the AMI. Serving as a hub for this upcoming community, the ground floor of the Helena Crocker Residences features services, amenities, and an outdoor patio for the residents, age 62+, to gather. Additionally, residents will be well-connected to the neighborhood with the Senior Helpers of Westford just a 3-minute stroll down the sidewalk, and the Westford Senior Center, home to the Council on Aging, a short 10-minute shuttle ride away.

Designed to look at home in its space, The Helena Crocker Residences’ appearance will stay consistent with the features of other buildings and houses in the area. Its exterior will be composed of fiber cement siding, composite (PVC) trim, fiberglass windows, and asphalt roofing.

“Meeting the remarkable Helena Crocker in person makes this project all the more personal, and our team is excited to create a building that supports her lifelong work,” said Mark Edmonds, Superintendent at Dellbrook|JKS. “We have skilled teams making great progress on the site’s preparation, and we look forward to starting foundations shortly.”
