Oxford School Residences
Oxford School Residences in Fairhaven, MA, is a charming residential complex comprising 52 units. The project involved renovating the historic Oxford School, a two-story, 16,923 square foot brick structure, which now accommodates 13 residential units. The meticulous renovation included selective removal of floor, wall, and ceiling systems, as well as finishes. All electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems were replaced and reconfigured. The renovations focused on adding and reinforcing structural elements to meet current codes. Upgrades included new windows, exterior doors, and roofing systems. The building’s original brick façade was restored and applied in line with historic preservation standards.
In addition, a new, four-story adjoining building was constructed behind the Oxford School. This 37,765 square foot, residential structure features 39 units and an elevator. Its exterior façade is composed of fiber cement board siding, PVC trim, and fiberglass windows. The construction also involved installing complete mechanical, electrical, and fire alarm systems. The project included significant site work, such as demolishing a 28,000 square foot existing structure. Building excavations, installation of new utilities, and the implementation of rough grading and drainage systems were carried out to create new parking areas. Site lighting was improved, and full-depth paving was done for drives and parking spaces. Additional enhancements included the construction of new walkways, retaining walls, and fencing, transforming the 55,239 square foot space.
