The restoration of the historic armory in West Newton is addressing the critical need for affordable housing in the community. The carefully planned development, built to Passive House standards, features a range of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, ensuring that it caters to the diverse housing needs of the community.

In alignment with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines, 28 of these apartments are earmarked for households earning up to 60 percent of the area median income, reflecting the local context with a median income of $140,200 for a family of four in Newton. The remaining 15 apartments are specifically designed to accommodate households with incomes at the 30 percent threshold of the area median income. By adhering to these income brackets, the project aims to foster a sense of community that embraces a wide spectrum of residents, creating a vibrant and inclusive living environment for all.
