Oak Bluffs – On Thursday, July 17th, Dellbrook|JKS proudly joined Affirmative Investments’ to break ground on Tackenash Knoll, an affordable housing complex on a 7.78 acre, undeveloped site. Union Studio Architecture, Island Housing Trust, Mass Housing, local officials, and additional project partners all gathered for the event on Martha’s Vineyard.

With approximately 1.87 acres being preserved as protected open space, 4.55 acres will be designated for construction. Providing 60 rental units, this 88,550 square-foot development will feature six, three-story buildings and six, two-story buildings. All wood framed residential buildings will include partial basements and crawl spaces. Additionally, Tackenash Knoll will include a community building with shared amenities for residents.

Extensive site work and sustainable measures are required for the Passive House construction of Tackenash Knoll, such as the careful installation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.

“We’re excited to be starting another project on Martha’s Vineyard, bringing an affordable, sustainable community to the island,” said Greg Inman, Project Executive at Dellbrook|JKS.  “We’re proud to continue our partnership with Affirmative Investments and look forward to getting started.”

The town of Oak Bluffs will gain not only new and affordable residential housing, but also a proposed pedestrian and bike-friendly path. Residents of Tackenash Knoll will enjoy a close proximity to the YMCA and MV Regional High School. The project is expected to be completed March of 2027.
