Thank You, Joe Yee

QUINCY — Telling the history of Dellbrook|JKS isn’t possible without mentioning the name Joe Yee. Joe has served the company since its inception, not only as our first Vice President of Estimating but also as one of our very first employees. He even has the vintage apparel to prove it, still proudly wearing the windbreaker with our original logo, now fading from 20 years of good use.

Joe began his 53-year career in construction management after graduating from Northeastern University in 1971 and attending graduate school the following year, at Lowell Tech, now UMass Lowell. He immediately went into business with D. Antonellis Construction, and got to know the owner’s friend, Ed Fish. As Joe’s expertise grew over the years, so did his relationship with Ed, who invited him to begin working with the Fish’s companies in 1981. Joe jokes that the Fish family has signed just about every paycheck he’s ever received. Naturally, when Ed and his son, Mike, started Dellbrook Construction, Joe came along for the adventure.

“Joe has taught me more in the past 20 years than he will ever know,” said Mike Fish, President & CEO of Dellbrook|JKS. “We are so grateful for his many years of service, and he will forever be a part of our company’s history.”

Since 2005, Joe has been a resource to Dellbrook|JKS, providing mentorship to our growing estimating team and accurate proposals from the conceptual stage through final design and construction no matter the building, site, or foundation complexity.

“I had the pleasure of working with Joe during my first days in the industry, so it’s even more meaningful to be celebrating the end to an incredible career with him”, said Ed Sople, Chief Operating Officer at Dellbrook|JKS. “Joe has always been a great role model with his level of care in both his personal and professional life; I congratulate him on a job well done”.

Around Dellbrook|JKS, Joe is an icon and, in the industry, a legend. Both clients and coworkers alike admire Joe for his wisdom, skillset, and most importantly, humor. His teammates will miss his stories, energy, and athleticism, impressing everyone with numerous laps around the Quincy Office’s 5-story stairwell or 40-mile bike tours on the weekend.

During retirement, Joe intends to spend more time doing what he loves, making memories with his family and conquering the world one bike ride at a time. He also plans to drop in on the occasional Dellbrook|JKS event to say hello, because he has a permanent, open invitation to all of the company’s happenings.

Thank you, Joe! Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement. We are so proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to seeing you enjoy this next chapter.
